William Jones graduated from Furman University in 2001 with a degree in Political Science, and then returned to his hometown of Dallas to attend Southern Methodist University’s Dedman School of Law.

After graduating from law school in 2005, William began his career as a prosecutor for the Collin County District Attorney’s Office in McKinney, Texas. While with the District Attorney’s Office, William was trained by some of the best prosecutors in the state and handled all types of cases, ranging from divorce services reviews, DWI, to drugs, and even murder. He gained valuable criminal law experience in the courtroom. William was quickly promoted within the office and given the responsibility to not only prosecute cases, but to also train other prosecutors on how to handle criminal cases.

Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) Experience

In all, William spent over six years as a prosecutor, handling thousands of cases and personally conducting over 250 trials. He attended multiple trial skills seminars and schools presented by the Texas District and County Attorney’s Association, some of which are available only to prosecutors. These included but are not limited to the Texas Homicide Symposium, TDCAA Trial Skills Seminar, and countless hours of DWI education courses. In addition, he personally trained prosecutors and police officers how to testify in DWI jury trials. However, no amount of schools or seminars can prepare an individual for what it’s really like inside a courtroom. The thousands of hours William has spent in the courtroom arguing cases in front of judges and juries is what sets him apart from his peers and allows him to provide his clients with the best possible representation.

Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) Criminal Defense

After more than six years as a prosecutor, William decided that his skills could be best-used helping people who find themselves in the unfortunate situation of being accused of a crime like DWI. The state has hundreds of lawyers and investigators and a nearly unlimited budget to try and convict people of crimes. It can be a very intimidating and scary thing to feel the weight of the state pressing down on you. This is why it is so important to find an attorney who knows how prosecutors think and act, so that your rights can be protected.

One of the most aggressively prosecuted crimes in Texas is DWI. Throughout William’s career as a prosecutor, he handled DWI cases ranging from first time offenses to DWI Intoxication Manslaughter. He knows exactly how these cases are prepared and tried by the state’s prosecutors. He also knows how police officers are trained and will testify. DWI is a very complicated offense; in many instances it is a very subjective charge based solely on the opinions of a police officer. In those cases, William’s experience allows him to ask the right questions to expose an officer’s bias, and allows the jury to hear what the accused person did right as opposed to only what the officer says the individual did wrong. In some cases DWI can be a very technical offense, especially when dealing with breath and blood tests. The state will try and bring “experts” and professionals that can be very convincing to a jury. It is important to have an attorney on your side who knows how these witnesses are trained and what they are going to say in order to properly combat their testimony and keep the jury on your side.

If you find yourself in the unfortunate situation of being accused of DWI, you can bet the state will try to label you as a criminal for the rest of your life. You need the best attorney possible fighting for your rights and holding the state accountable for its actions. The lawyers at Jones & Hull P.C. provide an unparalleled level of experience and knowledge to obtain the best results for you.
